Versliste
So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.
And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thy hands; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly; for he went up from Gilgal all the night.
And Jehovah discomfited them before Israel, and he slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.
And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth-horon, that Jehovah cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more who died with the hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
Then spake Joshua to Jehovah in the day when Jehovah delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel,Sun, {Hebrew: be silent.}stand thou still upon Gibeon; And thou, Moon, in the valley of Aijalon.
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed,Until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Is not this written in the book of {Or, The Upright}Jashar? And the sun stayed in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
And there was no day like that before it or after it, that Jehovah hearkened unto the voice of a man: for Jehovah fought for Israel.
And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
Hast thou entered the treasuries of the snow,Or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble,Against the day of battle and war?
So there was hail, and fire {Or, flashing continually amidst}mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.
And great hail, every stone about the weight of a talent, cometh down out of heaven upon men: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof is exceeding great.
And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having seven plagues, which are the last, for in them is finished the wrath of God.
And I heard a great voice out of the {Or, sanctuary}temple, saying to the seven angels, Go ye, and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God into the earth.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done.
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth.
for ye are all sons of light, and sons of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness;
And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying, All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth.
(and he bade them teach the children of Judah the song of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of {Or, The Upright}Jashar):
Wherefore it is said in the book of the Wars of Jehovah,Vaheb {Or, in storm}in Suphah,And the valleys of the Arnon,
And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said,Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle {Greek: bellies.}gluttons.
