And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him.
And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith unto them, Whom seek ye?
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be {Or, about my Father's business Greek: in the things of my Father.}in my Father's house?
But Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer {Or, me}it now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffereth him.
and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe in the {Or, good tidings: and so elsewhere.}gospel.
And Judas, who {See marginal note on chapter 10:4.}betrayed him, answered and said, Is it I, Rabbi? He saith unto him, Thou hast said.
And straightway he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, Rabbi; and {Greek: kissed him much.}kissed him.
And when he was come, straightway he came to him, and saith, Rabbi; and {Greek: kissed him much.}kissed him.
And Peter answereth and saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three {Or, booths}tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Rabbi, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
The woman saith unto him, {Or, Lord}Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then hast thou that living water?
The {Or, king's officer}nobleman saith unto him, {Or, Lord}Sir, come down ere my child die.
The sick man answered him, {Or, Lord}Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou {Or, hast words}hast the words of eternal life.
So he cometh to Simon Peter. He saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
He leaning back, as he was, on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turneth herself, and saith unto him in Hebrew, Rabboni; which is to say, Teacher.
He brought him unto Jesus. Jesus looked upon him, and said, Thou art Simon the son of {Greek: Joanes: called in Matthew 16:17, Jonah.}John: thou shalt be called Cephas (which is by interpretation, {That is, Rock or Stone.}Peter).
And Jesus turned, and beheld them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? And they said unto him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), where abidest thou?
He findeth first his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted, {That is, Anointed. Compare Psalm 2:2.}Christ).
He brought him unto Jesus. Jesus looked upon him, and said, Thou art Simon the son of {Greek: Joanes: called in Matthew 16:17, Jonah.}John: thou shalt be called Cephas (which is by interpretation, {That is, Rock or Stone.}Peter).
The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh (he that is called Christ): when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.
and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent). He went away therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
