Versliste
King Solomon made himself a {Or, ear of state}palanquinOf the wood of Lebanon.
He made the pillars thereof of silver,The bottom thereof of gold, the seat of it of purple,The midst thereof being {Or, inlaid}paved with love,From the daughters of Jerusalem.
In that day shall the {Or, shoot Or, sprout}branch of Jehovah be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the {Or, earth}land shall be {Or, majestic}excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.
For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; {Or, that we should look upon him, not beauty &c.}and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
For if they do these things in the green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
{Greek: Let your turn of mind be free.}Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, {Deuteronomy 31:6; Joshua 1:5}I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee.
So that with good courage we say, {Psalm 118:6.}The Lord is my helper; I will not fear:What shall man do unto me?
Every one that passeth over unto them that are numbered, from twenty years old and upward, shall give the offering of Jehovah.
The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than the half shekel, when they give the offering of Jehovah, to make atonement for your souls.
knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers;
but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, even the blood of Christ:
for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered unto the saints, and still do minister.
