He devoureth the barren that beareth not,And doeth not good to the widow.
Yet God preserveth the mighty by his power:He riseth up that hath no assurance of life.
God giveth them to be in security, and they rest thereon; {Or, But}And his eyes are upon their ways.
They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone; {Or, And when they are &c.}Yea, they are brought low, they are {Or, gather in}taken out of the way as all others,And are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.
And if it be not so now, who will prove me a liar,And make my speech nothing worth?
To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is {Or, emboldened}fully set in them to do evil.
That the triumphing of the wicked is short,And the joy of the godless but for a moment?
And inasmuch as it is {Greek: laid up for. Colossians 1:5; 2 Timothy 4:8}appointed unto men once to die, and after this cometh judgment;
But Paul saith, I am not mad, most excellent Festus; but speak forth words of truth and soberness.
