Yea, at this my heart trembleth,
And is moved out of its place.
Hear, oh, hear the noise of his voice,
And the {Or, muttering}sound that goeth out of his mouth.
He sendeth it forth under the whole heaven,
And his {Hebrew: light.}lightning unto the {Hebrew: skirts.}ends of the earth.
After it a voice roareth;
He thundereth with the voice of his majesty;
And he restraineth not {Hebrew: them.}the lightnings when his voice is heard
God thundereth marvellously with his voice;
Great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.
For he saith to the snow, Fall thou on the earth;
Likewise to the shower of rain,
And to the showers of his mighty rain.
He sealeth up the hand of every man,
That all men whom he hath made may know it.
Then the beasts go into coverts,
And remain in their dens.
Out of the chamber of the south cometh the storm,
And cold out of the {Hebrew: scattering winds.}north.
By the breath of God ice is given;
And the breadth of the waters is {Or, congealed}straitened.
Yea, he ladeth the thick cloud with moisture;
He spreadeth abroad the cloud of his {Hebrew: light.}lightning:
And it is turned round about by his guidance,
That they may do whatsoever he commandeth them
Upon the face of the habitable world,
Whether it be for correction, or for his {Or, earth}land,
Or for lovingkindness, that he cause it to come.
Hearken unto this, O Job:
Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
Dost thou know how God layeth his charge upon them,
And causeth the {Hebrew: light.}lightning of his cloud to shine?
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds,
The wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?
{Or, Thou whose garments are &c.}How thy garments are warm,
{Or, When he quieteth the earth by the south wind}When the earth is still by reason of the south wind?
Canst thou with him spread out the sky,
Which is strong as a molten mirror?
Teach us what we shall say unto him;
For we cannot set our speech in order by reason of darkness.
Shall it be told him that I would speak?
{Or, If a man speak, surely he shall be shallowed up}Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up?
And now men {Or, cannot look on the light when it is bright in the skies, When the wind hath passed, and cleared them}see not the light which is bright in the skies;
But the wind passeth, and cleareth them.
Out of the north cometh {Hebrew: gold.}golden splendor:
God hath upon him terrible majesty.
Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out:
He is excellent in power;
And {Or, to justice…he doeth no violence}in justice and plenteous righteousness he will not afflict.
Men do therefore fear him:
He regardeth not any that are wise of heart.

Jehovah thundered from heaven,And the Most High uttered his voice.
Who doeth great things and unsearchable,Marvellous things without number:
And he sent out arrows, and scattered them;Lightning, and discomfited them.
That doeth great things past finding out,Yea, marvellous things without number.
{Or, Canst thou find out the deep things of God?}Canst thou by searching find out God?Canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?
Lo, these are but the outskirts of his ways:And {Or, how little a portion}how small a whisper {Or, is heard}do we hear of him!But the thunder of his {Or, mighty deeds}power who can understand?
Behold, God is great, and we know him not;The number of his years is unsearchable.
He hath made everything beautiful in its time: also he hath set {Or, the world}eternity in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end.
Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not {Or, understood the foundations}understood from the foundations of the earth?
It is he that sitteth above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as {Or, gauze}a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? {Or, Jehovah is an everylasting God, the Creator…he fainteth not &c.}The everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary; there is no searching of his understanding.
O the depth {Or, of the riches and the wisdom & c.}of the riches {Or, both of wisdom & c.}both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!
And they sing the song of Moses the {Greek: bondservant.}servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,Great and marvellous are thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the {Many ancient authorities read nations. Jeremiah 10:7.}ages.
