So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
Now Elihu had {Hebrew: waited for Job with words.}waited to speak unto Job, because they were elder than he.
And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, his wrath was kindled.
And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said,
I am young, and ye are very old;
Wherefore I held back, and durst not show you mine opinion.
I said, Days should speak,
And multitude of years should teach wisdom.
But there is a spirit in man,
And the breath of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
It is not the great that are wise,
Nor the aged that understand justice.
Therefore I {Or, say}said, Hearken to me;
I also will show mine opinion.
Behold, I waited for your words,
I listened for your reasonings,
Whilst ye searched out what to say.
Yea, I attended unto you,
And, behold, there was none that convinced Job,
Or that answered his words, among you.
{Or, Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom; God thrusteth him down, not man Now he &c.}Beware lest ye say, We have found wisdom;
God may vanquish him, not man:
For he hath not directed his words against me;
Neither will I answer him with your speeches.
They are amazed, they answer no more:
They have not a word to say.
And shall I wait, because they speak not,
Because they stand still, and answer no more?
I also will answer my part,
I also will show mine opinion.
For I am full of words;
The spirit within me constraineth me.
Behold, my breast is as wine which hath no vent;
Like new wine-skins {Or, which are ready}it is ready to burst.
I will speak, that I may {Or, find relief}be refreshed;
I will open my lips and answer.
Let me not, I pray you, respect any man's person;
Neither will I give flattering titles unto any man.
For I know not to give flattering titles;
Else would my Maker soon take me away.

So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
If thou wert pure and upright:Surely now he would awake for thee,And make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
And if it be not so now, who will prove me a liar,And make my speech nothing worth?
For the company of the godless shall be barren,And fire shall consume the tents of bribery.
Dominion and fear are with him;He maketh peace in his high places.
Is there any number of his armies?And upon whom doth not his light arise?
How then can man be just {Or, before}with God?Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
Behold, even the moon hath no brightness,And the stars are not pure in his sight:
How much less man, that is a worm!And the son of man, that is a worm!
Is not thy wickedness great?Neither is there any end to thine iniquities.
For thou hast taken pledges of thy brother for nought,And stripped the naked of their clothing.
Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink,And thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
But as for the {Hebrew: the man of arm.}mighty man, he had the {Or, land}earth;And {Hebrew: he whose person is accepted.}the honorable man, he dwelt in it.
Thou hast sent widows away empty,And the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
Therefore snares are round about thee,And sudden fear troubleth thee,
{Or, Or dost thou not see the darkness, And the flood of waters that covereth thee?}Or darkness, so that thou canst not see,And abundance of waters cover thee.
Is not God in the height of heaven?And behold the {Hebrew: head.}height of the stars, how high they are!
And thou sayest, What doth God know?Can he judge through the thick darkness?
Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he seeth not;And he walketh on the vault of heaven.
{Or, Dost thou mark}Wilt thou keep the old wayWhich wicked men have trodden?
Who were snatched away before their time,Whose foundation was poured out as a stream,
Who said unto God, Depart from us;And, What can the Almighty do {Or, to}for {Hebrew: them.}us?
Yet he filled their houses with good things:But the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
The righteous see it, and are glad;And the innocent laugh them to scorn,
Saying, Surely they that did rise up against us are cut off,And the {Or, that which remained to them Or, their abundance}remnant of them the fire hath consumed.
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: {Or,as otherwise read, Thereby shall thine increase be good.}Thereby good shall come unto thee.
Receive, I pray thee, {Or, instruction}the law from his mouth,And lay up his words in thy heart.
If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, {Or, Thou shall put away…And shall lay up}If thou put away unrighteousness far from thy tents.
And lay thou thy {Hebrew: ore.}treasure {Or, on the earth}in the dust,And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks;
And the Almighty will be thy {Hebrew: ore.}treasure,And {Or, precious silver shall be thine}precious silver unto thee.
For then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty,And shalt lift up thy face unto God.
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee;And thou shalt pay thy vows.
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee;And light shall shine upon thy ways.
When they {Or, are made low}cast thee down, thou shalt say, There is lifting up;And {Hebrew: him that is lowly of eyes.}the humble person he will save.
He will deliver even him that is not innocent:Yea, he shall be delivered through the cleanness of thy hands.
How hast thou helped him that is without power!How hast thou saved the arm that hath no strength!
How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom,And plentifully declared sound knowledge!
To whom hast thou uttered words?And whose {Hebrew: breath}spirit came forth from thee?
For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of insurrections among all the Jews throughout {Greek: the inhabited earth.}the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
Neither can they prove to thee the things whereof they now accuse me.
