Versliste
My son, let them not depart from thine eyes;Keep sound wisdom and discretion:
So shall they be life unto thy soul,And grace to thy neck.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way securely,And {Hebrew: thou shall not dash thy foot.}thy foot shall not stumble.
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid:Yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
Be not afraid of sudden fear,Neither of the {Or, storm}desolation of the wicked, when it cometh:
For Jehovah will be thy confidence,And will keep thy foot from being taken.
We speak wisdom, however, among them that are fullgrown: yet a wisdom not of this {Or, age: and so in verse 7, 8, but not in verse 12.}world, nor of the rulers of this {Or, age: and so in verse 7, 8, but not in verse 12.}world, who are coming to nought:
but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, even the wisdom that hath been hidden, which God foreordained before the {Or, age: and so in verse 7, 8, but not in verse 12.}worlds unto our glory:
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
For they shall be a chaplet of grace unto thy head,And chains about thy neck.
Let not kindness and truth forsake thee:Bind them about thy neck;Write them upon the tablet of thy heart:
{Greek: Judas.}Jude, a {Greek: bondservant.}servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of {Or Jacob}James, {Or, to them that are beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ, being called}to them that are called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ:
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Then the devil taketh him into the holy city; and he set him on the {Greek: wing.}pinnacle of the temple,
and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, {Psalm 41:11, 12}He shall give his angels charge concerning thee:and,On their hands they shall bear thee up,Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, {Deuteronomy 6:16}Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.
Behold, he that keepeth IsraelWill neither slumber nor sleep.
And behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the boat was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
And when Herod was about to bring him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and guards before the door kept the prison.
And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
In peace will I both lay me down and sleep; For thou, Jehovah, {Or, in solitude}alone makest me dwell in safety.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside {Hebrew: waters of rest.}still waters.
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings:His heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah.
And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for these things must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet.
Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in {Greek: Gehenna.}hell.
Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every {Or, encumbrance}weight, and the sin which {Or, doth closely cling to us Or, is admired of many}doth so easily beset us, and let us run with {Or, stedfastness}patience the race that is set before us,
looking unto Jesus the {Or, captain}author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
and they may {Greek: return to soberness}recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been {Greek: taken alive.}taken captive {Or, by him, unto the will of God. Compare 2 Corinthians 10:5 Greek: by him, unto the will of him. In the Greek the two pronouns are different.}by him unto his will.
I have set Jehovah always before me:Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
