Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth:How much more the wicked and the sinner!
For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous,And his ears unto their supplication:But the face of the Lord is upon them that do evil.
But even if ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed are ye: and fear not their fear, neither be troubled;
For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.
and be found in him, {Or, not having as my righteousness that which is of the law}not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God {Greek: upon.}by faith:
And I {Greek: have said.}say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
And with these sayings scarce restrained they the multitudes from doing sacrifice unto them.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned for righteousness.
and spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, {Greek: a herald.}a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it {Some ancient authorities omit for them that trust the riches.}for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
And they were astonished exceedingly, saying {Many ancient authorities read among themselves.}unto him, Then who can be saved?
