Versliste
I said unto the {Or, fools}arrogant, Deal not arrogantly; And to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
Lift not up your horn on high;Speak not {Or, insolently with a haughty neck}with a stiff neck.
For neither from the east, nor from the west,Nor yet {Or, from the wilderness of mountains cometh judgment}from the {Hebrew: wilderness.}south, cometh lifting up.
But God is the judge:He putteth down one, and lifteth up another.
For in the hand of Jehovah there is a cup, and the wine {Or, is red}foameth; It is full of mixture, and he poureth out of the same:Surely the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall drain them, and drink them.
Why do the nations {Or, tumultuously assemble}rage,And the peoples meditate a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,And the rulers take counsel together,Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,
Let us break their bonds asunder,And cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh:The Lord will have them in derision.
For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
he also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is {Greek: mingled.}prepared unmixed in the cup of his anger; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
And the great city was divided into into three parts, and the cities of the {Or, Gentiles}nations fell: and Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that hast drunk at the hand of Jehovah the cup of his wrath; thou hast drunken the bowl of the cup of staggering, and drained it.
For thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto me: Take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.
And he shall plant the tents of his palace {Or, between the seas at}between the sea and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
