That maketh the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades,And the chambers of the south;
Canst thou bind the {Or, chain Or, sweet influences}cluster of the Pleiades,Or loose the bands of Orion?
Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O Jehovah our God? therefore we will wait for thee; for thou hast {Or, done}made all these things.
For {Or, thick darkness is to all of them as the morning; For they &c.}the morning is to all of them as thick darkness;For they know the terrors of the thick darkness.
Let darkness and {Or, deep darkness (and so elsewhere)}the shadow of death claim it for their own;Let a cloud dwell upon it;Let all that maketh black the day terrify it.
Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb,Nor hid trouble from mine eyes.
