Versliste
Now I know that Jehovah is greater than all gods; yea, in the thing wherein they dealt proudly against them.
Because of thy raging against me, and because {Or, thy careless ease}thine arrogancy is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
and showedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land; for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them, and didst get thee a name, as it is this day.
{Or, That man may put away his purpose. And that he may hide}That he may withdraw man from his purpose,And hide pride from man;
But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, {Or, Thou sayest, He doth not greatly regard arrogance. Thus doth &c.}Neither doth he greatly regard arrogance;
When pride cometh, then cometh shame;But with the lowly is wisdom.
By pride cometh only contention;But with the well-advised is wisdom.
The proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name;He worketh in the arrogance of pride.
Because of thy raging against me, and because {Or, thy careless ease}thine arrogancy is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
As for thy terribleness, the pride of thy heart hath deceived thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of {Or, Sela}the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith Jehovah.
Behold, the day, behold, it cometh: thy doom is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.
(but if a man knoweth not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
