Versliste
I exhort therefore, first of all, {Greek: to make supplications &c.}that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men;
for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.
And he changeth the times and the seasons; he removeth kings, and setteth up kings; he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that have understanding;
Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the powers that be are ordained of God.
And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
So that he setteth up on high those that are low,And those that mourn are exalted to safety.
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,And lifteth up the needy from the dunghill;
That he may set him with princes,Even with the princes of his people.
For neither from the east, nor from the west,Nor yet {Or, from the wilderness of mountains cometh judgment}from the {Hebrew: wilderness.}south, cometh lifting up.
But God is the judge:He putteth down one, and lifteth up another.
