As for Elkanah, the sons of Elkanah: {In verse 35, Zuph.}Zophai his son, and {In verse 34, Toah.}Nahath his son,
{In verse 34, Eliel.}Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son.
And the sons of Samuel: the first-born {See verse 33, and 1 Samuel 8:2. The Hebrew text has, Vashni, and Abiah.}Joel, and the second Abijah.
And these are they that {Hebrew; stood.}waited, and their sons. Of the sons of the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,
And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the furniture of the sanctuary, as the camp is set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch the {Or, holy things}sanctuary, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting.

And he answered and said, Have ye not read, {Genesis 1:27; verse 2.}that he who {Some ancient authorities read created.}made them from the beginning made them male and female,
