A Song of Ascents; of David.
I was glad when they said unto me,
Let us go unto the house of Jehovah.
Our feet {Or, have stood}are standing
Within thy gates, O Jerusalem,
Jerusalem, that art builded
As a city that is compact together;
Whither the tribes go up, even the tribes of {Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah,
For {Hebrew: a testimony.}an ordinance for Israel,
To give thanks unto the name of Jehovah.
For there {Or, were}are set thrones for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.
{Or, Salute ye Jerusalem}Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
{Or, May they}They shall prosper that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls,
And prosperity within thy palaces.
For my brethren and companions' sakes,
I will now {Or, speak peace concerning thee}say, Peace be within thee.
For the sake of the house of Jehovah our God
I will seek thy good.
Querverweise zu Psalm 122,5 Ps 122,5
If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates; then shalt thou arise, and get thee up unto the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose;
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada {So in chapter 20.23, and 1 Chronicles 18:17. The Hebrew text has, and the Cherethites &c.}was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were {Or, priests}chief ministers.
And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests the Levites:
And Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, even the prince among his brethren; for he was minded to make him king.
Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites and the priests, and of the heads of the fathers' houses of Israel, for the judgment of Jehovah, and for controversies. And they returned to Jerusalem.
