In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge:
Let me never be put to shame.
 Deliver me in thy righteousness, and rescue me:
Bow down thine ear unto me, and save me.
 Be thou to me a rock of habitation, whereunto I may continually resort:
Thou hast given commandment to save me;
For thou art my rock and my fortress.
 Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked,
Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
 For thou art my hope, O Lord Jehovah:
Thou art my trust from my youth.
 By thee have I been holden up from the womb;
Thou {Or, hast been my benefactor from &c.}art he that took me out of my mother's bowels:
My praise shall be continually of thee.
 I am as a wonder unto many;
But thou art my strong refuge.
 My mouth shall be filled with thy praise,
And with thy honor all the day.
 Cast me not off in the time of old age;
Forsake me not when my strength faileth.
 For mine enemies speak concerning me;
And they that watch for my soul take counsel together,
 Saying, God hath forsaken him:
Pursue and take him; for there is none to deliver.
 O God, be not far from me;
O my God, make haste to help me.
 Let them be put to shame and consumed that are adversaries to my soul;
Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor that seek my hurt.
 But I will hope continually,
And will praise thee yet more and more.
 My mouth shall tell of thy righteousness,
And of thy salvation all the day;
For I know not the numbers thereof.
 I will come {Or, in the strength}with the mighty acts of the Lord Jehovah:
I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth;
And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
 Yea, even {Hebrew: unto old age and gray hairs.}when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not,
Until I have declared {Hebrew: thine arm.}thy strength unto the next generation,
Thy might to every one that is to come.
 Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high;
Thou who hast done great things,
O God, who is like unto thee?
 Thou, who hast showed us many and sore troubles,
Wilt quicken {Another reading is, me.}us again,
And wilt bring {Another reading is, me.}us up again from the depths of the earth.
 Increase thou my greatness,
And turn again and comfort me.
 I will also praise thee with the psaltery,
Even thy truth, O my God:
Unto thee will I sing praises with the harp,
O thou Holy One of Israel.
 My lips shall shout for joy when I sing praises unto thee;
And my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long;
For they are put to shame, for they are confounded, that seek my hurt.
Querverweise zu Psalm 71,5 Ps 71,5
But I have trusted in thy lovingkindness;My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth;And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
And now, Lord, what wait I for?My hope is in thee.
But thou art he that took me out of the womb;Thou didst make me trust when I was upon my mother's breasts.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul?And why art thou disquieted within me?Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him,Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.
I was cast upon thee from the womb;Thou art my God since my mother bare me.
כ KAPH.My soul fainteth for thy salvation;But I hope in thy word.
Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of Jehovah came mightily upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
I have hoped for thy salvation, O Jehovah,And have done thy commandments.
And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
And David said unto Saul, Thy servant was keeping his father's sheep; {Or, and therecome a lion and a bear…and I went out &c.}and when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock,
I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth; and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
Thy servant smote both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath {Or, reproached}defied the armies of the living God.
And David said, Jehovah that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and Jehovah shall be with thee.
Blessed is the man that trusteth in Jehovah, and whose trust Jehovah is.
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to thee in the name of Jehovah of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast {Or, reproached}defied.
This day will Jehovah deliver thee into my hand; and I will smite thee, and take thy head from off thee; and I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day unto the birds of the heavens, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
and that all this assembly may know that Jehovah saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is Jehovah's, and he will give you into our hand.
O Jehovah, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be put to shame. They that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Jehovah, the fountain of living waters.
Remember also thy Creator in the days of thy youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
Be not a terror unto me: thou art my refuge in the day of evil.
And the child grew, and waxed strong, {Greek: becoming full of wisdom.}filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
and that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
