God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.

2 wird geladen ... Therefore will we not fear, though the earth do change,
And though the mountains be shaken into the heart of the seas

3 wird geladen ... Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains tremble with the {Or, pride}swelling thereof. [Selah

4 wird geladen ... There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.

5 wird geladen ... God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved:
God will help her, {Hebrew: at the dawn of morning.}and that right early.

6 wird geladen ... The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved:
He uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7 wird geladen ... Jehovah of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our {Or, high tower}refuge.

{Or, Who hath made desolation &c.}What desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 wird geladen ... He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth;
He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder;
He burneth the chariots in the fire.

10 wird geladen ... {Or, Let be}Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Jes 34,2 wird geladen ... For Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath {Hebrew: devoted.}utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

Jes 34,3 wird geladen ... Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

Jes 34,4 wird geladen ... And all the host of heaven shall {Or, moulder away}be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading leaf from the fig-tree.

Jes 34,5 wird geladen ... For my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my {Hebrew: devoting, or, ban.}curse, to judgment.

Jes 34,6 wird geladen ... The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for Jehovah hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

Jes 34,7 wird geladen ... And the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls: and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

Jes 34,8 wird geladen ... For Jehovah hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

Jes 34,9 wird geladen ... And the streams {Hebrew: thereof.}of Edom shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

Jes 34,10 wird geladen ... It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever; from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

Jes 34,11 wird geladen ... But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it; and the {Or, bittern}owl and the raven shall dwell therein: and he will stretch over it the line of confusion, and the {Hebrew: stones.}plummet of emptiness.

Jes 34,12 wird geladen ... {Or, As for her nobles, none shall be there to proclaim the kingdom}They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all its princes shall be nothing.

Jes 34,13 wird geladen ... And thorns shall come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.

Jes 34,14 wird geladen ... And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the {Hebrew: howling creatures.}wolves, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; yea, {Hebrew: Lilith.}the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.

Jes 34,15 wird geladen ... There shall the dart-snake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shade; yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.

Jes 34,16 wird geladen ... Seek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them.

Jes 34,17 wird geladen ... And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever; from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
