Michtam of David.
Preserve me, O God; for in thee do I take refuge.
O my soul, thou hast said unto Jehovah, Thou art {Or, the Lord}my Lord:
I have no good beyond thee.
{Or, Unto}As for the saints that are in the earth,
{Or, And the excellent…delight; Their &c.}They are the excellent in whom is all my delight.
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that give gifts for another god:
Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer,
Nor take their names upon my lips.
Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:
Thou maintainest my lot.
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places;
Yea, I have a goodly heritage.
I will bless Jehovah, who hath given me counsel;
Yea, my {Hebrew: reins.}heart instructeth me in the night seasons.
I have set Jehovah always before me:
Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth;
My flesh also shall dwell {Or, confidently}in safety.
For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol;
Neither wilt thou suffer thy {Or, godly Or, beloved Another reading is, holy ones.}holy one to see {Or, the pit}corruption.
Thou wilt show me the path of life:
In thy presence is fulness of joy;
In thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

he also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is {Greek: mingled.}prepared unmixed in the cup of his anger; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
and the smoke of their torment goeth up {Greek: unto ages of ages.}for ever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, they that {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worship the beast and his image, and whoso receiveth the mark of his name.
But ye that forsake Jehovah, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for {Hebrew: Gad. See Genesis 30:11.}Fortune, and that fill up mingled wine unto {Hebrew: Meni.}Destiny;

Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations:
for her sins {Or, clave together}have reached even unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
