Kindness and truth preserve the king;And {Or, he upholdeth his throne}his throne is upholden by kindness.
Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.
And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a {Or, infirmary}separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Jehovah: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.
Howbeit the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water:Therefore leave off contention, before there is quarrelling.
And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of Jehovah: and they came through the upper gate unto the king's house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith:
I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, {Or, and had no comfort Hebrew: away from good.}even from good;And my sorrow was stirred.
Then these presidents and satraps {Or, came tumultuously (and so in verse 11:15)}assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God;
And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
The godly man is perished out of the earth, and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.
