Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men.
See that none render unto any one evil for evil; but always follow after that which is good, one toward another, and toward all.
Whoso rewardeth evil for good,Evil shall not depart from his house.
Say not thou, I will recompense evil:Wait for Jehovah, and he will save thee.
Ye have heard that it was said, An {Exodus 21:24; Leviticus 24:20; Deuteronomy 19:21.}eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, threatened not; but committed {Or, his cause}himself to him that judgeth righteously:
But the boat {Some ancient authorities read was many furlongs distant from the land.}was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves; for the wind was contrary.
bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.
Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not.
