Versliste
By terrible things thou wilt answer us in righteousness,O God of our salvation,Thou that art the confidence of all the ends of the earth,And {Or, of the sea, afar off}of them that are afar off upon the sea:
Who by his strength setteth fast the mountains,Being girded about with might;
Who stilleth the roaring of the seas,The roaring of their waves,And the tumult of the peoples.
They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens:Thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
{Or, They went up by the mountains, they went down by the valleys}(The mountains rose, the valleys sank down)Unto the place which thou hadst founded for them.
Who looketh on the earth, and it trembleth;He toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.
A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan;A {Hebrew: mountain of summits.}high mountain is the mountain of Bashan.
Why look ye askance, ye high mountains,At the mountain which God hath desired for his abode?Yea, Jehovah will dwell in it for ever.
Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith Jehovah, which destroyest all the earth; and I will stretch out my hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.
And there ariseth a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, insomuch that the boat was now filling.
And he himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion: and they awake him, and say unto him, Teacher, carest thou not that we perish?
And he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful? have ye not yet faith?
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Ah, the {Or, multitude}uproar of many peoples, that roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters!
The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but he shall rebuke {Hebrew: him.}them, and {Hebrew: he.}they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.
And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows;
