And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away; and the sea is no more.
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create; for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been {Or, stored with fire}stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the {Or, heavenly bodies}elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be {The most ancient manuscripts read discovered.}burned up.
For this they wilfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and {Or, through}amidst water, by the word of God;
Of Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard evil tidings, they are melted away: there is {Or, care}sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
And I saw {Or, the holy city Jerusalem coming down new out of heaven}the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall {Greek: tabernacle.}dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, {Some ancient authorities omit and be their God.}and be their God:
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, so also in {Greek: the Christ.}Christ shall all be made alive.
But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ's, at his {Greek: presence.}coming.
Then cometh the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to {Greek: the God and Father.}God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power.
For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet.
The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.
For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. {Or, But when he shall have said, All things are put in subjection (evidently excepting him that did subject all things unto him), when, I say, all things &c.}But when he saith, {Psalm 8:6.}All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him.
And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.
And I saw no {Or, sanctuary}temple therein: for the Lord God the Almighty, and the Lamb, are the {Or, sanctuary}temple thereof.
And the city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine upon it: for the glory of God did lighten it, {Or, and the Lamb, the lamp thereof}and the lamp thereof is the Lamb.
And there shall be {Or, no more anything accursed}no curse any more: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be therein: and his {Greek: bondservants.}servants shall serve him;
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
in whom ye also are builded together {Greek: into.}for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
And there shall be {Or, no more anything accursed}no curse any more: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be therein: and his {Greek: bondservants.}servants shall serve him;
and to {Some ancient authorities read bring to light what is.}make all men see what is the dispensation of the mystery which for ages hath been hid in God who created all things;
to the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places might be made known through the church the manifold wisdom of God,
