But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: because thy supplication is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.

And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These things saith the first and the last, who {Greek: became.}was dead, and lived again:
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
