Versliste
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.
Remember the word that I said unto you, A {Greek: bondservant.}servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.
And he that doth not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me.
For my love they are my adversaries:But I give myself unto prayer.
And they have {Hebrew: laid upon me.}rewarded me evil for good,And hatred for my love.
Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.
He delivereth the afflicted {Or, in}by their affliction,And openeth their ear {Or, by adversity}in oppression.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord:My hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not;My soul refused to be comforted.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah; set to Alamoth. A Song.God is our refuge and strength,A very present help in trouble.
Jehovah also will be a high tower for the oppressed,A high tower in times of trouble;
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward.
Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every {Or, encumbrance}weight, and the sin which {Or, doth closely cling to us Or, is admired of many}doth so easily beset us, and let us run with {Or, stedfastness}patience the race that is set before us,
looking unto Jesus the {Or, captain}author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For consider him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against {Many ancient authorities read themselves. Compare Numbers 16:38.}himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls.
