Now as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at the Lord's feet, and heard his word.
But Martha was {Greek: distracted.}cumbered about much serving; and she came up to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister did leave me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
But the Lord answered and said unto her, {A few ancient authorities read Martha, Martha, thou art troubled. Mary hath chosen &c.}Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things:
{Many ancient authorities read but few things are needful, or one.}but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after:That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life,To behold {Or, the pleasantness}the beauty of Jehovah,And to {Or, consider his temple}inquire in his temple.
And he answered and said unto them, I also will ask you a {Greek: word.}question; and tell me:
And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one {Greek: word.}question, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
And Jesus said unto them, I will ask of you one {Greek: word.}question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
He therefore answered, Whether he is a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
And when Jesus heard it, he said unto him, One thing thou lackest yet: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
Brethren, I count not myself {Many ancient authorities omit yet.}yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before.
I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the {Or, upward}high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
And {Or, messes were taken}he took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and {Hebrew: drank largely.}were merry with him.
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.
