Versliste
And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
Jehovah will make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
And I will break the pride of your power: and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass;
And it is turned round about by his guidance,That they may do whatsoever he commandeth themUpon the face of the habitable world,
Whether it be for correction, or for his {Or, earth}land,Or for lovingkindness, that he cause it to come.
Hearken unto this, O Job:Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
Dost thou know how God layeth his charge upon them,And causeth the {Hebrew: light.}lightning of his cloud to shine?
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds,The wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?
{Or, Thou whose garments are &c.}How thy garments are warm, {Or, When he quieteth the earth by the south wind}When the earth is still by reason of the south wind?
Canst thou with him spread out the sky,Which is strong as a molten mirror?
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
For he saith to Moses, {Exodus 33:19}I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy.
For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, {Exodus 9:16}For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth.
So then he hath mercy on whom he will, and whom he will be hardeneth.
Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he still find fault? For who withstandeth his will?
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?
Or hath not the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
