Oh come, let us sing unto Jehovah;
Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving;
Let us make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For Jehovah is a great God,
And a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth;
The {Or, strength}heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, and he made it;
And his hands formed the dry land.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker:
For he is our God,
And we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
To-day, {Or, if ye will hear his voice, Harden &c.}oh that ye would hear his voice!
Harden not your heart, as at {That is, strife.}Meribah,
As in the day of {That is, temptation.}Massah in the wilderness;
When your fathers tempted me,
Proved me, and saw my work.
Forty years long was I grieved with that generation,
And said, It is a people that do err in their heart,
And they have not known my ways:
Wherefore I sware in my wrath,
That they should not enter into my rest.
Querverweise zu Psalm 95,9 Ps 95,9
Yet went they on still to sin against him,To rebel against the Most High in {Or, a dry land}the desert.
because all those men that have seen my glory, and my signs, which I wrought in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
And they tempted God in their heartBy asking food {Or, for themselves}according to their desire.
Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his {Greek: powers.}mighty works were done, because they repented not.
Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the {Greek: powers.}mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you.
How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness,And grieve him in the desert!
If I had not done among them the works which none other did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
And they turned again and tempted God,And {Or, limited}provoked the Holy One of Israel.
Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God,And kept not his testimonies;
Neither let us make trial of the {Some ancient authorities read Christ.}Lord, as some of them made trial, and perished by the serpents.
