Blessed is the people that know the {Or, trumpet sound}joyful sound:They walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance.
In thy name do they rejoice all the day;And in thy righteousness are they exalted.
For thou art the glory of their strength;And in thy favor {Another reading is, thou shall exalt our horn.}our horn shall be exalted.
For our shield belongeth unto Jehovah; {Or, Even to the Holy One of Israel our King}And our king to the Holy One of Israel.
He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob;Neither hath he seen {Or, trouble}perverseness in Israel:Jehovah his God is with him,And the shout of a king is among them.
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, shall be a solemn rest unto you, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.
And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing of trumpets unto you.
Blow the trumpet at the new moon,At the full moon, on our feast-day.
Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.
Righteousness exalteth a nation;But sin is a reproach to {Hebrew: peoples.}any people.
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his {Or, skirts}train filled the temple.
How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness,And grieve him in the desert!
And they turned again and tempted God,And {Or, limited}provoked the Holy One of Israel.
